Sculpture Line
Venice
2020
From 29 August 2020 to 16 February 2021, the European Cultural Center in Venice presents the first part of the multidisciplinary exhibition OPEN SPACE, located in the Giardini della Marinaressa. The exhibition runs in parallel with the Biennale, on the occasion of 125 years of its existence.
OPEN SPACE involve artists, architects and designers. Small and large sculptures and installations are exhibited, with the aim of enhancing the importance of art in everyday life, highlighting the link between the arts, public spaces and the community.
The works on display are intended to make the public reflect both on the concepts expressed by each artist and on their relationship within public spaces in urban contexts. The artists on display share a common value in the desire to create a dynamic public space in dialogue with artistic projects that are inspirational for the community.
In recent years, the European Cultural Center has promoted and supported the renovation of the Giardino di Levante and the Giardino di Ponente, to make them accessible again.
The review will be accompanied by appointments and events that will take place at the Giardini's locations: workshops, film screenings, shows, with the aim of creating a dialogue around the exhibition and its themes.
