Laco Sabo


He was born in 1954 in Galanta. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, at the Department of Sculpture, in the studio of Prof. Rudolf Pribiš and in the studio of Prof. Ján Kulich. He was an active member of the Gerulata association. In 1994 he was a co-founder of the BRONZ international sculpture symposium in Galanta, which continued in 95, 96 and 98. He also participated in many sculpture symposia in Slovakia and abroad. In 2005 he was the founder of the tradition of the bronze symposium in Lendava, Slovenia.

He is the author of several sculptural realizations for public space, the most famous of which are: The First Post Box in Bratislava (2001), the Memorial to the Victims of the Air Disaster in the village of Hejce, Hungary (2007), memorials to the Lower Silesian Slovaks in Hungary in the villages of Sarvaš (2002) and Slovenský Komlóš (2006).
